The kids have Saturday morning cartoons —
WE can have Saturday morning fun too!
Aeria by Linnea Ornstein
|
Aeria is a two-colored shawl knit sideways from tip to tip. The leaves are shaped with short-rows, and the entire shawl is knit in garter stitch. Be warned - this shawl is highly addictive! While you could use 2 solids or semi-solids, we think using a slow striping yarn, such as Zauberball or Zauberball Crazy, or Frolicking Feet Transitions combined with a solid color yarn makes for a playful, colorful feathered shawl. Another idea is using a bunch of mini skeins as the contrast color. We have lots of Unicorn Tails and Smooshy Petites! |

Here's what Linnea Ornstein says: I’m a legal officer and work as a civil servant at a government agency. I’m also a small-scale freelance photographer and a Shetland pony breeder. The rest of my time I spend knitting, and mostly in Icelandic or Swedish wool yarn. Occasionally I also spin yarn or weave. My patterns are generally inspired by traditional Nordic knitting style, with geometrical & symmetrical yokes, or are else nowadays quite often lace patterns. SELLING FROM MY DESIGN While my patterns and photos are all copyrighted, I don’t mind at all if you want to sell things made from my designs. If you find a market, I am really happy if you as a knitter/crafter enjoy my designs and also can make a few bucks off your work in the process. Please feel free to share with me though if you do, just so I can cheer you on! |
Zauberball and Zauberball Crazy are a perfect slow striping yarn for Aeria. |

Frolicking Feet Transitions would also make a gorgeous Aeria! |

This simple and fun unisex shawl is knit flat using traditional triangular shaping. The body is worked with half twisted ribbing on the right side and simple 1x1 ribbing on the wrong side. The piece is finished with a stretchy bind-off and optional tassels or fringe that can be added at the end. The finished shawl is incredibly versatile, making the perfect addition for chilly spring days and cool summer nights, or a wonderful staple for the fall and winter. |

Crafting the Resistance The designer of this hat, Donna Druchunes, describes her background: I, perhaps, have a weird life and a weird family. But I prefer to think of myself as quintessentially American. I have cousins who are Black, Asian, Hispanic, and White. When I was a teenager, our household included two mothers (one black and one white) and four daughters (two black and two white). We called ourselves Sisters A, B, C, and D based on our birth order. Still, as a white woman, I struggle with having white privilege and not doing all I can to oppose the systemic racism in our society. I made and wear this hat to support my sisters and cousins. Let’s all work together to make a better world. We have a few copies of the book in stock, but not in the online store, so please give us a call to order a copy! |

AiryLight From Susan Chastain: "I moved to Flagstaff from South Florida a few years ago. My knitting buddies there, and my new knitting friends from Phoenix, are always looking for light weight projects to make and wear in warmer climates. Having made many shawls with sock weight yarn on larger needles, I was inspired to design this light and flowing top with swingy gussets at the sides, and fun lace pattern stitches." AiryLight uses a tonal and a variegated sock weight yarn knit on US size 8 needles. For the 36" and 40” sizes, you need 2 – 100 gm skeins of a solid or tonal for the main front and back sections, plus 1 – 100 gm skein of a coordinating variegated for the gussets, upper bodice, and short sleeves. For the 44” size, you will need additional skein of each. The pattern features a simple eyelet pattern for the variegated sections, and gives the options for 2 different allover lace patterns for the main front and back sections. The green model uses the “arrowhead lace” pattern, while the red model uses the “diamond lace”. Susan put some colorful kits together! Browse them below! We think there is something for everyone.
